DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE
Dear Little Haven Nursery Families and Future Families,
I would like to take this time to welcome you to our Little Haven Nursery (LHN). At Little Haven Nursery—all our children and their parents are part of our caring safe ‘haven’ family. We are proud to provide a nurturing community of teachers and staff for our parents and children. Little Haven Nursery is an extension of your family. We are committed to creating a safe, fun and meaningful early childhood experience each day for your child to come and enjoy learning through structured play following the Early Years Foundation Stages (EYFS). At LHN and our Parent Partners work together to help instil and celebrate a life-long love of learning.
Children at Little Haven Nursery are treated with integrity, respect, and encouragement to ensure that all children’s unique learning styles and personalities are addressed. In our LHN warm environment, children experience learning activities that are developmentally appropriate for our Little Haven Nursery children to grow and bloom into independent thinkers and problem solvers. Our open area piazza space, outdoor play areas, and classroom areas are bright and filled with natural light that is designed purposely to welcome your child’s bright ideas to grow and develop in a risk-free safe learning environment. At LHN, we also provide extension-learning areas such as ---Mommy and Me Open Art/Crafts Area, Sensory Perception Room, Piazza Smart Board Theater, Open Area Dramatic Play Area, STEM Adventure Area, Piazza Play Area, Outside Water Area, and an external Wonderland Playground that inspire and develop curiosity and interest through exploration and discovery learning.
Obviously, Nursery Care leads to K-12 schooling. Academically all Little Haven Nursery students follow the EYFS system developing the seven main developmental structures of learning through well-developed lesson plans designed to peak curiosity and invite independent learning. Teachers’ lesson plans are based on EFYS learning goals for children 0-5 years old. Our students join at 2 months to 4 years old. By the time, our LHN children move on from our FS1 classes to ‘big’ school FS2/Kindergarten classes, they have developed independent ‘self-help’ and social skills that are important for a successful learning experience in FS2/Kindergarten and beyond. They have also developed a love for literacy and numeracy concepts, understand what it means to be respectful to our friends, and understand how to be part of a team sharing learning experiences.
Children of all religious traditions, ethnic origins, and economic backgrounds are welcomed at LHN. Little Haven Nursery-- staff and Parents as Partners work together to ensure the best preschool experience possible for all children. Communication is one of the most important pieces of our LHN and Parent Partnerships. The ties between parents, teachers, and administration is a living partnership that is consistently growing and developing. Parents are encouraged to be a part of our Little Haven Nursery Community through involvement in events, from Mommy and Me Art/Crafts, Flag Day and National Day celebrations, Coffee Cup mornings, Family Pizza Bake Day, Color Days, Breast Awareness –Go Pink Pumpkin Patch, Breakfast and Lunch Partners, Parents Involvement Committee and our Parent/Teacher Conferences. We invite you to come to visit our Little Haven Nursery and meet our early childhood teachers. I welcome all to our Little Haven Nursery and look forward to meeting you in person!
All the best,
